Remarks by German Minister of the Environment Jürgen Tritten were not well received by many Americans who wrote in to let us know. Now, we give our German readers the chance to respond. We've posted a selection here.

"Und es heist.......boom, boom......Erika!"
**But at least the end is near. Elections will be held in three weeks and life will start get better for the German people. - Patrick Baumann, Pulheim**
From his keyboard to Gods ears.
Thanks, I don't know how to do that :) I hardly ever post
This from the original Euro Stomp-and-Tromp School of Fuel Management. Anyone who has been to Europe has to be amazed at the burn-and-brake mentality of the Europeans. They don't burn as much gas because they live on a cute little toadstool that a person could walk across in half an hour. And now they want virtue points for living in a dinky land.
AND, in France they STILL sell leaded fuel at the pump. Those HDI and SDI deisels are kinda cool, but until 2 years ago, they were outlawed here. Why were they outlawed? ---because they couldn't pass US emissions standards!!!!
Absolutely
Belongs to the SPD (Socialist Democrat Party) - Schroeder's Party.
They call those CDU (Christian Democtratic Union)
That is an excellent point. I saw something on TV once where they put all of Europe in Texas (grabbed the map and pulled it over). It's way more tiny than we are (fits in one of 50 states!).
Could we possibly take an equivalent size and see how much gas is used and how much pollution is output?
(Q) "what's that word in German?."
(A) NAZI.
>>hahaha, this one's a democrat (what's that word in German?)<<
Dumbkopf? (I think I spelled it right)?
"...why don't you sell your SUVs and try to intellectually enter the 21st century.(sic)"
First, Herr Mueller, we use question marks at the end of interrogatories.
Second, let's review the following "steps to the 21st century" shall we?
Mercedes Benz Gelandewagen G500, ave 13 mpg; the VW Toureg mit W-12 zylinder engine, ave 14mpg (for the 8 cyl; no data for the 12 yet); the M-B ML500, ave 15mpg; the BMW X5, ave 15mpg; the 750L 12 cyl sedan, ave 15mpg; Mercedes Maybach 12 cyl, ave 12 mpg; to name a few.
All German, all less than frugal. Imagine the mileage on the Autobahn! Maybe we should just sell the inefficient German SUVs!! LOL! What was your point again, my Eurotrash friend?
To their credit, VW does offer some extraordinarily efficient TDI Diesels, but the liberals of our country will not let us "enter the 21st century" using them, because they are afraid of Diesel emissions.
If Germany is so concerned, they can send us 10,000,000 bicycles as foreign aid.
"I saw something on TV once where they put all of Europe in Texas (grabbed the map and pulled it over). It's way more tiny than we are (fits in one of 50 states!)."
You might want to do your own research on that.
I used to live in Europe, and did some driving. From Where I lived in Southern Germany, to a place in Southern Italy was 950 miles.
I will grant you the scale is smaller. But you can NOT fit Europe into Texas.
Texas is about 700 sq. kilometers.
Germany is about 347 square kilometers.
France is about 547 square kilometers.
So you see just these two alone, exceed the size of Texas.
how do you say yeehaw in french and german.
french: haw de yee?
german: some 40 letter long word
