I'm feel so fortunate to have a wonderful governor here in Minnesota, Tim Pawlenty.
I heard an incredible # this morning. I'm probably going to get it wrong, so I won't try: Katrina devastated SOMETHING MILLION SQUARE miles of our country. Heard it on FNC. Anyone else remember the exact number?
I do recall there was something about "martial law" being imposed in NO, but it turned out not to be. Does he think you tell the media and it happens? Surely there's more to it than that! ;-)
FF=firefighters
From what I can tell....FEMA is in charge of the busses. They pick people up at the dome and take them to the airport....where they dump them out and??? 3000 at the airport right now.
CNN VIDEO
EVACUATION BUS FLIPPED OVER NORTH OF LAFAYETTE LA
No report on how many injuries - they were showing it on CNN
"We rode that storm out and then decided to go to New Orleans. We didn't realise the storm was heading that way."
He said of his eventual Superdome refuge: "There was a lot of heat from the people in there, people shouting racial abuse about us being white.
"The army warned us to keep our bags close to us and to grip them tight."
He said he saw crack cocaine being used in the filthy toilets, youngsters breaking into soft drink machines and men brawling. Urine and excrement spilled into corridors where they were sleeping.
Evacuation bus has flipped over outside Lafayett, LA... can't tell how many people killed or injured yet.
Well, be careful, Dolphy, BIAR will reply that that there is no comparison, so, "what don't you understand?" See previous posts.
Sounds like NG defers to local command who are requesting FEMA direction....of which there seems to be a short supply.
NOTE: THANKS for the live links! Hearing & watching this live while "at work" 480 miles away is amazing...

the locals/state have been out of the loop since the moment this started. this is one of the major problems, FEMA was not designed to to come into an anarchist situation - no police, no command structure, police fleeing their posts, moonbat mayors and governors, etc.

Be my guest. Just do me a favor and kick said presstitute in the shins on my behalf (c;
Sweet Jesus!
Ditto!
Thanks seamole but I've read previously that for the US military, not the national guard, to act as police as Miss Mary has requested, martial law had to be declared at the Fed level.
I know NO's mayor declared martial law then rescinded it.
Even if it's just the guard & not the army *acting as police* in NO and/or LA, does that mean someone somewhere had to declare martial law? If so, at what gov level?
I'm really trying to find out if martial law is under effect anywhere right now so I can email all my local news stations and suggest they find out exactly what it means for the military to act as police. Along with the suspension of all civil rights, I read on one of these threads that insurance policies become null & void under martial law.
I've already emailed all the local news and asked them to quit Bush bashing and instead look into the disaster the Mayor of NO & LA's gove have made of disaster relief -- he Fedgov, not even FEMA are first responders. And, I'd like to see a news invesrgation into the use of Homeland Security funds by NO & LA since NONE of the 2004 NO hurricane disaster plan has been implemented. I thought martial law was another more newsworthy story than repeatedly showing the same clip of NO's mayor passing the responsibility buck on up to Bush.
>>I guess I have knee-jerk reactions when I hear the word Scientologist.<<
Same here. However, for me, "sincere" is not a word I would use to describe the compassion demonstrated by any Scientologist. My "cult" radar goes on high alert whenever Scientology is part of the discussion.
Yeegawd! I am so happy to have Matt Blunt here instead of bumbling Bob.
