Bush showing courage and being positive as well as sensitive. What a man! CSPAN2 is showing this live, for those who are TV-deprived.
Unfortunately, you'll be treated to more stupid, grandstanding questions from the press. :(

Jackson said 120,000 people in New Orleans make less than $8,000 a year, and are without private transportation. Thus, they had no capacity to leave the city, and no place to go even if they could leave. OK, Nicholas Cage donated $1 million.
Why didn't Jesse offer to pay bus companies, etc. to move people out before hand?
Oh, that's right, he was meeting with yet another Communist dictator...

I bet (and hope) he does land. I think it will be a great moment for him. Just hope they can keep him safe.

The question is whether he will actually land and visit with people. I predict the airport in kenner and a visit with the Colonel. I pray he gets back on afterward and leaves the state without stopping at Baton Rouge.

Honestly, the heart of TX is as big as the state itself....the surrounding states will be taking on a lot of refugees as well....this will be stretching their resources very thin...
This crisis has only just begun....

Interesting Feed at WGNO.com right now. This is the NO ABC station which has been broadcasting on Web through the Baton Rouge Affiliate. In any case, right now all we get is some FEMA guy giving interviews one after another to various TV station. You can only hear the answers Mr. FEMA is giving, but not the questions. Nevertheless he is aping the same responses almost word for word.
To: Elyse
He was talking about seeing reporters beside a starving child in Africa and all he could ever think was that he wanted to tell the reporter to put that camera down and give that baby a sammich.
http://www.illwillpress.com/kat.html has a flash rant that goes along with that thought. Not censored; don't use the audio loudly at work.

Question time in Biloxi (paraphrasing) -
First question - something about being prepared (partially drowned out by heli) - Nobody can be prepared for something like this.
2nd question from Terry - Are we spending too much on Iraq? - No.
3rd question - What did you mean by not acceptable results? - Explaining that he meant that it meant that we could do better.

President Bush on now giving high praise to Haley Barbour and the mayor of Biloxi. If you listen to what he is saying, you can hear the unspoken "unlike another governor I won't name." Very good; Gov. Barbour deserves praise...we know the other does not and why.

Bush (paarphares)
AL response good
MS response good
Coast Guard response in NO good.
There's the shot across the bow of Blanco and Nagin.

Very good; Gov. Barbour deserves praise...we know the other does not and why. Agreed - drawing the distinction between the two situations forces the media whores to report it that way.

I was saying that it was the governor's fault, and the Lousiana FEMA team not working together well...But now things look like they are moving into higher gear.
