Yes. And the armed gangs are such a serious problem. I hope they are able catch a majority of these people and charge them with terrorism. I pray they look hard for them long after this crisis is over. Hand them the worse punishment available.
SE from police station where CNN are. Fire and explosions. Area has rail cars.
Do you live in N.O.? in LA?
Dark is one thing. There are cities south of N.O. that are completely inaccessible still. There are at least ten times the death toll of those three hurricanes, combined; likely ten times the dollar damage; likely more than ten times the hit on US economy; the area has zero fuel for more than a hundred miles in any direction; dozens of miles of major high tension transmission lines gone; no communications infrastructure, even for police and government officials; likely ten times the recovery time. I predict N.O. will not have recovered even half their population three years from now.
You apparently need the lecture - that's why I give it.
BTTT!!!!!!!!
CNN...believe it is rail cars exploding...area is Chartres street
The worst case scenario.
I did not post that very well. The data that I cut and pasted was in a table form with a column of numbers for NO and another column for LA. I erased all of the LA numbers except for the gross population. Sorry, it sure looks like I said NO,LA was the 10x number.
CNN...many police have quit...armed looters running in streets...fire and explosions in SW New Orleans
Chatres and what, I wonder. Sounds like it's down in the Faubourg Marigny near the river...but I'm guessing.
Rioting burning and looting occurred in our cities ( Phila) way back in 1964 and was ALLOWED to go unchecked which set a precedent
How about"If this had happened in W Palm Beach the aid would have gotten there sooner"..class warfare mode has taken over ..Most of the peole on the largely lib board I am talking about do not know the difference between federal power and state powers..I wonder if any of them have studied the immense devastation..all they see is the suffering in NO and it is all Bush's fault. Now the NO mayor wants Bush on the ground touring NO.
I can't take the whining.
Thanks for making my point. They're not refugees they're evacuees.
This is an endless nightmare. They have stop the looters now or the situation will go on getting worse.
AP says police boats are at the scene of explosions on the riverfront...a few miles south of the French Quarter.
Webster: --"one who fless in search of refuge during time of war".
They're saying it may have happened because of chemicals.
5:24 A.M. - UNDATED (AP) -- Hurricane Katrina damaged or displaced an estimated 58 Gulf of Mexico oil platforms and drilling rigs. The American Petroleum Institute says among those, 30 rigs and platforms have been reported lost. Tim Sampson, an A-P-I spokesman says no company breakdown was available.
