Did you see that Australia is donating 10 million dollars?
Who is the former Mayor of NO on Scrasbough right now
I've seen him a few times and wanted to smack him upside his head every time
Just a thought. But what about when gas becomes short? Are we going to see the sub-human element coming out in other major cities lke we see in NO?
Thank you.
Hippie guy? He did nothing about the levees either!
Yes...the city directed people there and didnt tell FEMA. And if they were all inside until the waters receded today, how would crews see them?
But of course, NBC did their best to spin the situation. There was one clip of guys looting food out of the Convention Ctr kitchens, I think they were Snapples.
It used to be a nice building....have been there before.
--- That sounds like a description of the actions of the US Supreme Court of late. :-)

NASCAR, Red Cross join for hurricane relief effort
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- NASCAR announced Thursday it has aligned its industry with the American Red Cross to support in every way possible charitable efforts in the aftermath of the Hurricane Katrina disaster.
"One of the special qualities of the NASCAR industry is helping others in times of need," NASCAR Chairman and CEO Brian France said. "NASCAR is working to rally our drivers, teams, tracks, partners, and most importantly, our fans to this common cause.
"This tragedy has impacted millions of Americans, many of whom are NASCAR fans themselves, and we have reached out to the American Red Cross to do everything we can to provide relief.
"Like all Americans," France said, "our hearts ache as we realize the devastating impact this storm has had. We know NASCAR fans are eager to help.
"Our alliance with the American Red Cross gives those fans, and our entire industry, an opportunity to band together in this common cause."
NASCAR, with the cooperation of its partner, Turner Sports Interactive -- producers of NASCAR.COM -- has established a designated Web page to coordinate NASCAR fan support of the relief efforts.
Additional information and details will be forthcoming.

NASCAR Relief Efforts
When Bush first urged "no tolerance" for lawlessness, the DU thread announcing it filled up immediately with over 50 posts claiming he was calling out the KKK and waging war to destroy black America. There was not a single response which acknowledged that people were dying because these thugs were thwarting the rescue efforts.
So do I, but I get the feeling that Cindy meant something less direct.
In any case, rather than return fire, it looks like many of the cops just, uh, reconsidered their commitment to public service.
And shoddy Japanese building standards were revealed. They ignore their building codes. This was attributed to bribery of building inspectors.
You are correct. A request for Nat'l guard troops to restore civil order must come from the governor (or their designate). Comm/con must remain civilian, under most circumstance (unless Gov&LtGov&president of state senate&state speaker of house are incapable). Even then, USCongress must make a temporary determination before DOD can asume comm/con.
Bumping NASCAR!!!
They'll be at Ontario this wekend, racing FRiday and Saturday nights
Thanks!
He is showing no leadership, and has no detailed knowledge of how to handle the crisis. He has no plan. This guy is a joke.
More proof of the absolute incompetence of the local leadership.
