Yes, we are past that point now, BlackRain, and it does not help these people to keep damning them for not evacuating. Rosenkreutz, I agree that the people who could have evacuated and chose not to, made a terrible mistake. Most of them saw hurricanes come and go through the years and I think many of them just didn't believe they couldn't survive another one. After the fact, it is quite easy to have 20/20 vision and there is no doubt they are regretting their decision to ride this one out.

Also, Rosenkreutz, perhaps you are not aware of the fact that thousands of people who WANTED to leave, couldn't. That fact has been well-documented but all too often ignored by some people who are choosing to damn them for not leaving. IMHO.

I agree, there's no point in blaming folks now for things they are surely regretting.

Yes! And this is exactly why the Governor and Mayor deserve to be tarred and feathered. Living in Florida I have seen hurricanes come and go...yet one thing I know is that most cities have procedures for evacuating those who can't.

They should've had buses, shuttles and taxis running since at least Saturday morning. But because both the governor and mayor were still realing from the criticism over Ivan, they decided to not take this as serious as they should've.

I'm sure if it was election day, there would've been buses running all day, in and out of these poor communities to make sure they all made it to the polls.
