So I guess this is what happens when "the man" isn't in control eh? Savages will be savages. The civilized people left when they said EVACUATE. The old people who couldn't or didn't have enough brain left are the ones I pray for. If you had children and you didn't leave you should be prosecuted.

I have to say this folks, but after 4 days without electricity, a bathroom and conditions unknown to us, people get REAL desperate! Now, I'm not saying or giving the bastards who are causing all the chaos a pass. I am simply stating that under those condition it's tough! ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN! I'm furious these folks are STILL waiting to be evacuated! MY GOD what is taking so long? The women and children SHOULD have been the first ones out...SOMEONE IS DROPPING THE FREAKIN BALL ROYALLY on this one!!

I suppose this is what the kind of lifestyle in New Orleans breeds. It is not a good reflection upon the city. I pray the the police gets the situation under control and take out these thugs.

How can 15,000 people who are trapped in the Convention Center be given the go-ahead to march across a bridge to another area of the city? Are they trapped or not?

Maybe now the mass media experts (idiots) can understand why we just can't pull out of Iraq and everything will be hunky-dory. When the established order disappears, it takes a while to rebuild the infrastructure of civility and civilization. It doesn't just happen because op-ed writers think it ought to be so -- because they never have to account for all the irresponsible things they say.
Send the Helen Thomases and Paul Krugmans over to the Superdome to talk some sense into those people and restore order. For that matter, send them to Iraq.

I found this very interesting paragraph on the Internet about Crime in N O.
Experts say the trend in the city thats home to the popular French Quarter exists for several reasons, drugs, too few police, inexperienced prosecutors, and residents staying quiet because they fear retaliation. They point to an experiment last year by university researchers in which police fired 700 blank rounds in a New Orleans neighborhood in a single afternoon. No one called police to report the gunfire

Maybe I'm missing something...under martial law one wouldn't think that getting beat back at the door would not be an option.
To: Fitzcarraldo
The POE' leece chief sent (8) 11 man teams in and the first
one was beaten back?
Beaten back...when the police have shotguns and riot gas?
And what did the other 80 police officers than do...just leave?
Affirmative action leos?...
Sew the wind...reap the whirlwind..
Note to self....Never leave home unarmed...

I havebeen struck by the number of people who have small cildren who chose to ride out the storm. What were they thinking?
And this storm mostly passed them by. If it ad hit NO dead on, No would be flattened.
I repeat. What were they thinking?

My wife's been on my ass for years to visit New Orleans and I've continually said "No." Always had a bad feeling about the place. Think I'm more right now than ever before.

Compass said he sent eight eleven-man teams into the convention center. But as soon as the first team arrived, he said, "they were beaten back within 30 feet of the entrance." If the 'cops' he sent were anything like the ones we saw filling their shopping carts at Long's and K-Mart, I can see why!
