Hollyweird snobs and their snobbery. Which comes to America in the form of insisting we lessers pay more for gas, we put up with less money in our wallets and forget about maintaining our standard of living. As Bill Maher says, you can always walk, bike or take public transit. The snobs don't mind the extra change for their gazz-guzzling limos and SUVs. They can afford it. Oh yeah, let the masses pass up the gas!

Ed Begley, Jr. and Martin Sheehan are the only Hollywood activists I respect. I don't agree with them, of course, but they do walk their talk. And I respect that.

NBC reported most hybrid cars save little gas until the fifth year of ownership,
=======================================

Amazingly foolish statement. Perhaps they meant to say that you don't recover the additional cost of the vehicle for five years. You will realize a hybrid saves gas right away. It will be confirmed the first time you have to refill the tank.

I suppose it is mean-spirited to say it, but the fourth word of this headline should have been "Away."

Yup, that mileage really jumps at year 5.

Actually, you may not realize any savings until year 5, due to the higher purchase cost of a hybrid vs. a gas vehicle, but your mileage will be better on day 1. With gas at $4 a gallon, that amortization period will be considerably reduced.

Well, if there were such a thing as a silver lining, how about this: Next year's rent control and rent stabilization hearings will be a doozy as landlords need to recoup their feul costs from this coming winter. Hell, many of these landlords may just walk away from these buildings as rent control goes bye-bye.

And even if he did dare drive it, NBC reported most hybrid cars save little gas until the fifth year of ownership, and even then it's less than $100 per year. Another study showed the Prius is so unsafe, it could be fatal. Think of Bill Maher and his limos when you're fatally injured driving your hybrid.

I don't understand why there is so much hate on both sides of the SUV vs Hybrid debate. SUVs make up such a small fraction of gas use when compared to practically everything else in existence: sedans, tractor trailers, diesel trains and buses, airplanes, boats, power plants, etc. And the Honda Civic Hybrid has stood up well in crash studies.

But it appears that even if Detroit could make a Chevy Suburban sized hybrid that gets 75 miles per gallon and is indestructible in any accident neither side would buy one out of sheer spite.

Didn't Bill's girlfriend have a restraining order issued against him? I read on FR many months ago he had been beating her.

Bill is the ubber liberal.
Take all the filth out of his act and all you have left is a self absorbed seventh grader complaining about how terrible his "parents" are but still living under the roof they provide.

He doesn't give a damn about the enviroment, he just hates humanity.

The same NBC that staged the bogus fuel tank explosions in GM pickups? The same NBC that called Florida for Gore in the 2000 Presidential election? Yeah, they're really, really trustworthy.

As with most far left liberals, they missed their true calling of not hanging themsleves by a rope by the time they are in their mid-thirties. The bitterness and pure hate doesn't seem to effect them the way it should. Too bad, maybe next year.

Heh.

I've actually ridden in a limo with Maher and spent the better part of 12 hours with him one on one. He's a whining liberal, through and through ... very insecure, very childish man...
