I watch, and read, a LOT of news during the course of the the day, as I suspect many of us here do. In the last 24 hours I've noticed that most of the MSM television coverage has shifted away from the devastation in New Orleans and is now focused on the outlying areas like Mississippi. In particular, CBS, NBC, and ABC spend about two minutes of their morning broadcasts on the ruinous damage in N'awlins, and the rest of the time on human interest stories of the displaced survivors. Coverage of the unbelievably violent crime and looting are notably glaring ommissions as well; stories such as the shooting of police officers, gang warfare, and attacks on hospitals barely get a mention.
Has anyone else noticed this?
Yes because the United States needs to hide its dirty little secret from itself and the rest of the world, that it might just be that the stereotypes are all true and some people cannot be civilized.
Also, there is virtually no coverage in the MSM about the US military and National Guard assistance to the victims of this disaster.
Go figure.
I'm sure, that if all they concentrated on was New Orleans, someone would find fault with that also...
Ouch!
You're watching the wrong channels.
Actually, I'd rather see less of the looting and more of the rescuing on Fox and CNN
Well. Tuesday night I was channel surfing and came upon a CNN studio talking head asking Anderson Cooper (in the field) about looting. He said that people were only taking necessities. In the background of Anderson's live shot, I could see people looting clothing, electronics and other non-essential items.
All rescuing should be suspended until they can get order established.
This must be why my clueless coworker blasted GWB for just talking about the problem and "not sending federal troops." No matter how much news coverage there is, some people still just don't get the facts.
The MSM doesn't want to show the breakdown of democrat-elected-so-called-leadership. The Power B!tches That Be tried to be compassionate and not order Shoot on Site looters. Compassion has turned to Mayhem. The gov and mayor remind me of Screwtape and Wormtail
Democrat reporters covering up for the fellow democrats in inner city New Orleans.
I think the answer to your question can be found here:

If Mayor Bloomberg had announced that thousands of New Yorkers were dead, the networks would have suspended regular programming and gone 24/7 with the news. But since it happened in the south...
I can understand an interest in "human interest" stories; however, the overwhelming majority of the damage is to N.O., and most of the real victims are still in the area just outside the city proper... not in places like Biloxi, Mississippi, which is where the entire CBS (actually, it might have been NBC) broadcast took place from both last night and this morning.
Good people make an effort to lift up and help their fellow man, while others take advantage of disaster, as an excuse for lawlessness and violence. We're seeing exactly that.
There has always been looting of food and basic essentials, but what we have seen in NOLA is beyond the pale.

(If what I just wrote makes you sad or angry,
The democrat social engineering plan is a total disaster. Are these people any better off than they were 50 years ago? The liberal reporters know the truth about the failure of the democrat vision and they want to cover it up.
We're watching the cradle-to-grave cloak of liberalism shred itself to pieces in the calming breezes of reality.
Maybe, they figure Fox has NO covered, and the other places deserve coverage too.
