Perhaps looting is a fun time when all the laws are relaxed just for settin' things right'...I saw a lot of smiling laughing faces mugging it up for the cameras..

The Chief of the Miami PD gave the green light to looters when he declared that 'the day of shooting them is over...and that people are more important than material possessions" (Bet he doesn't feel that way about HIS material possessions though)

Even the Supreme Court says your property belongs to the state..as 'the state' can dispose of your property any way it sees fit"...(when you cannot dispose of your property anyway you see fit...it is no longer your property but belongs to someone else's who can)

Private property is the heart of America and freedom..when the state says it is no longer...then the state acts as God and we are truly lost.

You either put it in the hearts of citizens when they are young that they cannot steal and are not owed anything other than to live in a law abiding society or you put a gun to their head and shoot all who cross the line..

If you teach them (and all kids for that matter)...or encourage them with the notion that when they steal and hurt others they will not be held accountable as long as 'certain' environmental factors are present (natural or man made disasters)..and then keep providing them with more and more rationalizations for their evil..they will be in a constant state of thinking evil is OK and they have a right to do evil...

With this line of thinking.. America will certainly have to become a Police State...and soon.

Which is of course the plan of certain leaders who pretend to be Americans

The very lives of citizens are no longer their own property as we witnessed in the Terry Schiavo debacle and for that matter in the 43 million pre born US citizens murdered in America since Roe V Wade

Looting occurs whenever law and order breaks down as a result of disasters natural or manmade.

This phrasing begs the question. Yes, if law and order breaks down, looting is naturally part of that breakdown (unless there's nothing at hand worth stealing). However, it is entirely up to the people on the scene whether or not a disaster causes law and order to break down.

In any case, trying to make it a race issue (either by fru-fru greivance-mongers or by drooling melanin-challenged Stormfronters) is a sure mark of idiocy.

The only problem I have with this scenario is that a lot of this looting began within 5 hours of the hurricane passing. In fact, until Tuesday, most people thought New Orleans was sparred the worst. Instead of people helping their neighbors, some people immediately began helping themselves to their neighbors property. And because it wasn't stopped on the spot, it only grew worse to what we see now.

I say the hooligans are not "looters" they are gangstas. New Orleans is a largely black city, so the gangstas are black. If this happened in South Central LA, it would be the same thing. If it happened in East LA (which is where I thought we'd see rioting this summer), it would be mexicans.

It's not a race thing, it's an attitude thing. Those people should be counting their lucky stars that they are alive. They should be offering to help others, but they are only thinking about themselves. I don't begrudge them for taking items that probably would spoil, you do what you have to do.

I think it's time to end the dole, welfare as we know it, Section 8 housing, etc. why keep an underclass alive so that when a disaster happens, you get looters who are not only part of the problem, but make the problem 10 times worse. In footage of more modest looting in Biloxi/Gulfport as well as footage of New Orleans, I have seen whites looting in numbers that approximate the 10% of the remaining people that were in the areas.

Looting is not a racial thing.

The criminal looting is also not a poor person's thing, or the recourse of poor left behind by economic circumstances from opportunities to leave. There were poor people that didn't get out as well as the hospitalized, the infirm and some elderly without a support structure. These poor and the others didn't become looters.

No, the looters were the nasty thugs that stay behind in all such events. Probably many had good vehicles and even a chance to go earlier but they didn't want the cost, inconvience or trouble to follow evacuation notices. Instead they chose to stay and see what OPPORTUNITIES arose.

It is terrible that the leftists see all the poor as potential looters, but that is what we now understand is their view. The poor are their mascots and not their constituates and countrymen.
