Barbour vs. O'Brien live.
(Excerpt) Read more at cnn.com ...
I detest reporters acting as if they're champions. They act indignant about some situation, and they are doing nothing more than the job of standing there getting paid.
They are not part of the solution. It is sheer self-aggrandisement.
I watch them affect the savior role, and it sickens me. Shep Smith was doing some of that yesterday.
I'm sure if this disaster had happened during Slick Willy's watch the MSM would immediately label them "quick to react, smart and courageous."
I missed it, but I saw Aaron Brown last night on CNN blaming President Bush for everything.
"CNN is scum. I wonder if Katie has criticized the federal government's response yet?"
Don't worry, she will. Bush caused the hurricane and ruined her vacation.
"Ya think CNN will be grilling the Mayor of New Orleans any time soon.
He failed in EVERY single aspect of his responsibility."
That's certainly the truth. I know they were all overwhelmed but this is ridiculous. Of course if they would have helped get the people out of the city before the storm hit, they might not have all these people coming out now. There are a lot of poor people who just had no way to get out and no where to go. It's very sad that that wasn't taken into consideration when they were doing all their "planning"!
Her vacation at her Hamptons mansion.
Blanco does need to be brought to task fired.
Also, I am fairly sure that the Hurricane Katrina segment music cnn plays is the same piece of music that FOXNews used extensively for Chandra Levy coverage!
Yes, I am ashamed to admit I have been channel surfing in enemy territory on cnn and other stations.
Everytime I hear cnn's hurricane music, I cringe. One would think cnn might have selected another piece (if they had brains, of course).
Looting was ignored and excused and the results are clear.
NY had David Dinkins, NO has Nagin.
In both cases, liberals cost lives.
The name of the game is LEADERSHIP......something non existent in the liberal community that lives on the blame game rather than accountability.
I was watching CNN last night at 11:00 pm. Friggin fox was showing repeats of O'Reilly.
Aaron Brown was trying to do the same thing to the FEMA director. The FEMA director took Brown to task by replying that there are still dead people in the water and people on roofs needing rescue. FEMA guy says book him a few months down the road to be on his show to take blame, now he had more important things to do.
CNN coverage stinks. It is a blame game for them. I keep hreading from FR posters how great their coverage is. What I saw was disgraceful.
That rsponsibility should be up to the merchant.
Yes, but Shep is down there showing a pretty true picture of survivors and conditions in NO. He isn't safe and comfortable in Baton Rouge.
As for Gov. Blanco, I saw her a couple of times and she looked teary and uttered a few meaningless platitudes. She needs to watcvh a Margaret Thatvcher documentary and grow a backbone.
vaudine
Barbour has been wonderful.
My temper is frayed at the moment. I am sick of elites with political agendas, whther they be conservative or Liberal, either worrying about photo ops or in the Liberals case...trying to affix Blame to Bush for the weather!
They are sick, all of them. The ONLY thing that should dominate is saving lives and recovery. That isn't their primary thought, and they should be shamed.
I did....then I realized it was a CNN reporter, meaning he's an operative for the DemocRAT party.
Barbour spanked him though.
I've complimented CNN when they got it right and I'm not ashamed of that. This time they have it wrong and it is politicallly motivated.
I scan them and MSNBC when there are commercials on Fox. Sometimes you can only stand it for a couple of seconds and other times they do a pretty good job...they did a nice piece on the mother who had six in Iraq (husband and kids at different times).
Do you a link to the interview? The url you gave is to CNN's homepage.
All you have to do is look and see if there is an R or a D after their last name to figure out what kind of treatment the media is going to give them.
Shep is getting paid, watered, fed and sheltered.
Acting self-righteous about the progress or direction of recovery is depraved conceit on his part OR on the part of any reporter/newsroom that affects the same attitude.
He/They aren't doing a damn thing to fix the problem, so they're in no position to second-guess the responders this early amidst a natural catastrophe. It made me sick.
