I know there is little Bush could actually do about Katrina, but the sheep on the Left are able to sully his actions with their own opinions as long as he remains out of the spotlight.

Well than you should read another thread and (barf) they believe over on another thread that there isn't enough news coverage of this event because the people who cover the news are all "elites" and that they felt that the coverage of 911 was more than the southern poor (as in on welfare) people are getting because they are southerners.

They also beleive that when a southerner dies its much more important than when a northerner dies BUT the elite dont care. I sat and read this and thought I have just entered the effing twilight zone.

This thread's article read that IF this happened in California that the news channels would have more coverage.
HELLO EVERY Friggin cable news channel is covering it wall to wall 24 hours a day!!!!!

This, as was 911 was a national news event people from all over America are wanting to donate to help. Americans in general whether north, south, east or west, pull together to help a fellow American.

I agree. It's a job best left to the local officials first with Federal support offered. The National Guard should be mobilized with Federal help available. There's a time for the PR battle, but the president showing up in the middle of a crisis just adds to the chaos and confusion while taking resources away from where they're actually needed. And NO amount of PR is going to change the Dims opinions; nothing he can do about that, nor should he try.

"I know there is little Bush could actually do about Katrina, but the sheep on the Left are able to sully his actions with their own opinions as long as he remains out of the spotlight."

I wonder, what it would be like, to have a job as important as the Pres. and to get crapped on for everything I did or said.

Bush came to florida 4 times last year --for each hurricane. I'm sure when the waters subside and people are able to locate their loved ones, and mayhem subsides--Bush will visit the gulf area too. It's still flooding and people are panicking....what is Bush supposed to do? Have people beg him to find their loved ones? It's kaos there.....they'd kill him!

Remember that during the Andrew recovery, Bush Sr. took a lot of flak for showing up in person. The secret service and security detail really messed up the relief efforts.

Face it, N. Orleans is more dangerous than Baghdad right now. I doubt the security could be arranged to have the president there very easily.

Gov Haley Barbour asked the President NOT to come to MS for a few days. The security needed for a Presidential visit drains the city of needed manpower. A Presidential visit now is a photo op that will be putting the President in harms way, having the President and his team in the way and taking needed manpower off needed functions.

I would say the same thing if the President were a democrat.

Think for a minute of the resources that are deployed when the President makes an appearance anywhere....Secret Service, police, military, etc....and this is when everything is hunky-dory and there are no gangs running around with guns....Bush would likely just as soon show up without all that protection but it simply doesn't work that way....

Thank you for pointing that out. I really cannot comprehend why anyone is more concerned with PR spin then doing what is necessary to maximize recovery and relief.

Dr. William Gray, a Colorado State University meteorologist, considered one of the fathers of modern tropical cyclone science, says worldwide weather records were too inadequate for a thorough examination of trends.

There was a hurricane just as bad as Katrina in the Gulf 25 years ago. Bad dude by the name of Allen. Happened about the same time as well.

I was in Houston at the time. Went to bed thinking Allen was coming right at us. Thought I'd spend the next couple weeks helping my parents deal with a damaged house instead of going off to college.

Woke up and the sun was shining. The storm had veered to the west and stalled off Brownsville. It sat there long enough to wind down to a Cat 2 and also for its surge to settle down - and then it went ashore along the most sparsely-populated section of the Texas coast.

The difference between the two storms was not global warming. They both got just as strong and just as large (Allen was probably larger and would have been even worse if it had come directly at Houston). The difference was pure luck.

But these liberal asswipes don't care about doing a bit of research. They are so eager to attack Bush for anything that they are unwilling to look at historical perspectives or science. And if you point out the lack of science or history in their views, they have the nerve to say that YOU are anti-science.

This story is not true. Surrender-woman was supposed to appear one night on O'Rielly's show but she cancelled out and he replaced her with another woman who also had a son die in Iraq. Since then the two women have been over and over confused both here on FR and other places. Casey was raised by his female parent and his dad.

"Casey was raised by his female parent and his dad."

I'm still confused. Cindy the She-ham did raise Casey the hero?

I dont think the Secret Service would let the President near the Superdome.

Certainly not, given the presence of armed thugs there. It would be insanity for W to show up any place where law and order has not yet been restored.

Sorry to confuse you.I've just got to the point where I can't even call this woman a mother--to me she has become only a female parent and I'm even thinking the word "parent" is inappropriate. But yes I was referring to CS.
