Their criticism apparently doesn't extend to the governor of Louisiana or the mayor of New Orleans...

And, as usual, their partisan pilotical attack piece is unsigned.

Almost as much vitriol as that CNN talking head bashing Bush. And they wonder why they keep getting spanked in November.

Waiting for a liberal to something besides biotch. The world is watching in horror what decades of democratic leadership has done for New Orleans.

If the President had had a long face with tears in his eyes, they would have criticized him for showmanship.

Oh, that's all right. The
Times has stepped up to the occasion and written one of its worst editorials of all time, and that's saying something.
This is insane. The focus of everyone in the country not absolutely consumed with hatred is on the disaster area and what to do about it. That was, after all, the focus of Bush's brief speech - what we're going to do about it. The editorial board of the NY Times evidently considers that secondary to their self-proclaimed mission of tearing the president down. It isn't the first instance of this - they have already forgotten or dismissed the 3000 of their fellow citizens who were basely murdered on 9/11 in favor of that same project.

Nothing Bush could have done or said would have been good enough for the NYT. Eff them.

If John Kerry were President he would have been on the phone to Chirac and Kofi to see if Katrina meets passes the Global Test, and then off to the Presidential Swift Boat to machine-gun (in the back) some looters in the "French" Quarter.

Drivers must be given confidence that gasoline will be available, and profiteering must be brought under control at a moment when television has been showing long lines at some pumps and spot prices approaching $4 a gallon have been reported. There is a shortage of refined product nationwide. When does the NYT want people to start conserving? Now or when there are long lines at gas stations where there is not enough fuel at the fixed prices?

"their self-proclaimed mission of tearing the president down"
The NY Times has a dual mission: get rid of Bush, and replace him with Hillary.
Let's just pray that George W Bush has the common sense to not appoint his father and Bill Clinton to steward the rebuilding effort.

After all but ignoring the aftermath of Katrina so they could focus on bringing us every single pearl of "wisdom" uttered by "Mother Sheehan", the NYT all of a sudden wants us to think it actually cares about what happened there? Yeah, right.
