Let me ask you something. How about the PLAN of the project dwellers? Do they not have some responsibility to save themselves? Or do they just sit and wait for someone, somewhere to come and save them? At what point do people decide they need to make their own plan for survival? I'm talking about walking out if necessary. Pushing the elderly in a wagon, if necessary. These are people who have NEVER had a plan. They didn't need one. There was always someone who would do it for them. Until now. Refugees?? I don't think so.

I see exactly what you mean and I agreed with you 100% until today. Bear with me here: They were told to evacuate BEFORE the hurricane. They didn't for many different reasons, poverty and ignorance being foremost, but they made it through the hurricane just fine. It was the stupid levees that made them need to move. Then when they DID try to walk out by the thousands, they ended up on an interstate highway in 95 degree weather with no water, no food and no shelter. That's what I'm upset about.

These are people who have been taught passivity as a strategy all their lives. They wait for someone else to come along, not only with a plan, but to make everything all right for them. And then they get annoyed when it's not up to their expectations.

Why do you not see any pictures of them - the ones that are strong and healthy, such as the looters - out trying to help their neighbors?

I can see why some of them didn't have much of a plan, because I get the impression that the city officials dragged their heels and didn't really give that much urgency to the evacuation order until too late in the game. But those who are still in the city could certainly pitch in and help now - something I haven't seen at all, in any of the coverage of this. Maybe it just hasn't been covered - or maybe it didn't happen.

Of course they expect someone else to save them. We are talking about 3rd generation dependents of the “nanny state”, a “nanny state” that the liberals have created with our tax dollars! Dependents with no responsibilities or accountabilities for their own well-being or their own actions. Nothing but dependents and totally innocent victims of the injustices of a prejudiced society determined to keep them on the lowest end of the socio-economic ladder.
