I do have a question also. I heard somewhere , Fox, I think, that many of these people couldn't leave since they hadn't gotten their welfare checks yet. That being the case, who is going to pick up thier tab for their welfare checks now? The state of Texas?

They should have put them in old military bases. This is going to be trouble.
My wife is in meetings this morning dealing with that very question (she is a director with Fulton Co. DFACS here in Georgia).
I haven't lived in Houston for 10 years, so I don't know how it is now --- but back then, the Houston cops had three war zone areas to deal with. The number of active thugs at the Astrodome is probably relatively small, percentage-wise, and it won't add much (again, percentage-wise) to the overall crime rate.
Yep, forgot it is the 1st of the month - where will all the SSDI, food stamps, section 8 money be sent? Maybe the feds should just hold on to it (realizing the checks have already been mailed of course)
