I was in Woodland Hills at the time. My grandmother lived in Inglewood she had some tenants make her get in the house for her protection (she was white).

As they began heading toward the valley I took my son (he was about a year old then) up to Oxnard.

I was amazed at how people could act like such beast. I never thought people could behave in such a way!

Where were you when it hit (the riots)

My wife and I lived in an apartment (1st flr of 3 story) next to the corner of Roscoe and Reseda, in Northridge. That morning, I only saw one guy go in and walk away with 2 cases of beer from the 7-Eleven. Hundreds of people were civil, allowing the employees to go in and get what the customer wanted (no one was allowed to go in the store). It was actually nice that the store was conducting any business considering no power.

Are we talking about the Rodney King riots? If so, we were up in Victorville, and my parents lived in Torrance. I told my now ex that we WOULD go down there and get them out, if the situation continued to escalate. My parents were elderly, and Dad was undergoing chemo at the time. We had a .22 rifle and a 12g shotgun. Thank God the situation was brought under control.
