Our son is in the ninth grade and we have been talking to him practically all his life about living a life with purpose, and living life on purpose.
We are an Air Force family, and my dh was previously in the Navy. What our son does in the future is up to him and we have no special feelings about him going into military service, but we are emphatic about doing something with meaning.
My son's goal in life right now is to go to the Coast Guard Academy and become a pilot or rescue person. He has only been reading about the Academy and their history and what they do, but had not seen anything firsthand. We have been in awe of them the last few days.
He looked at me last night after watching one rooftop rescue, with shiny eyes and said "I told you I will have a purpose ."
Those Coast Guard pilots have been awesome. I finally went with local coverage to see more of the rescues. Glad to hear it about your son.
One of the rescue helicopters was going from house to house with someone being lowered to check to see if anyone was there. It was AWESOME.
Some of the MSM has been complaining about lack of military support along with a few Freepers so I started posting my email I keep getting tonight from AF sources along with one from the Army. :)
