St. Louis has the number 2 mardis gras, so I see it being moved here in our historic french quarter. UGH.
Portalet I think is a brand name...anyway, it's a preferred local name.
The governor of LA is probably hiding under her desk along with Mary Landrieu
Galveston and Mobile also do major Mardi Gras's. Some of it might be showing up both places.
You absolutely hit the nail on the head.
You absolutely hit the nail on the head.
yes, just where are the gov & mayor this fine morning?
I'm currently trying to get a jacket or sweatshirt from a local portapotty company here in Nebraska. "Frickenstein and Sons -- We Take Your S**t!"
That's true of most cities that seem to have a "bad" reputation among rural residents: New Orleans, New York, San Francisco, Las Vegas. I've found the good in all of those places far outweighs the bad, and the bad is no reason to stay away. Just be alert, study maps and know where the bad neighborhoods are before you get there, and don't do silly things you wouldn't do at home (the main reason that tourists get into trouble).
Cities attract the best and the worst of humanity. To experience the best, you have to be willing to tolerate a little bit of the worst.
General Vayon: Col Curtis proceeding with evac as planned. Can confirm?
(scanner back on line)
Bus evacuations are set to proceed.
CNN's coverage has turned nasty, led by the vile Miles O'Brien... picking fights with Haley Barbour and then Bobby Jindall. You won't see comparable skepticism from him with Governor Blanco or Miss Mary.
Makes me sick. Barbour, National Guard, and all Republican officials should tell O'Brien he's done... no more interviews.
There is no reason except that people weren't paying attention and the govt. didn't want to evacuate. SHAME! THE BLOOD OF THE INNOCENT WHO DROWNED ARE ON THE HANDS AND HEADS OF THE LOCAL POWER STRUCTURE!
I guess by the standards Clinton set for America, Livingston should have been sainted.
Yep and what is interesting, and I haven't heard it said, is the next to last paragraph of your post. As the center of the bell goes thru each phase and so on.
But what is interesting, is that those phases are fluid. One goes back forth. I may say I am not mad at Blanco anymore today, I really think it is beyond that, but in an hour I may be fuming. And I haven't been in denial at all, from the beginning, from the flood and the dome, I knew the outcome was going to be horrid. What I did not appreciate is that this is the stuff that has always caused migrations of populations. The map is changed and the world has changed. I didn't grasp that early.
I don't know if it is the same party or not, but it sounds much like one my husband just told me last night. The future daughter-in-law of the owner of my hubby's company was back in her hometown of New Orleans for a bachelorette party. They were in the same situation: They had been bumped off of at least 2 flights. Her future father-in-law suggested they should reserve at least 2 cars to rent so that hopefully by the time they got there, they were both gone. They did get out though. It cost them some money. The plane before them had a mechanical problem and sat on the runway for a while, delaying them. I don't think that plane got out. They were on the last flight out before they closed the airport.
Actually, yes you can -- though you don't need to plan for several months, at least not in great detail.
The first step is to have a workable evacuation plan in place. They clearly didn't -- it was basically "use the freeways, and good luck with that." Next, you need to have a preselected destination for the refugees. They didn't. And to support the refugees, you need to have enough containerized food and shelter in place to cover the first few days. They didn't. After that, you rely on national- and state-level logistics to cover the long-term care and feeding. Even that, they didn't have.
There's a trash compnay on Cape Cod that promises complete satisfaction or twice your garbage back!
"Water reaching it's level" = CNN driving its viewers back to Fox because they can't hold back their liberal venomous ways . . .
