I'm thinking the Incidence of National Significance was implemented more so because of Blanco.
But it would take away the Mayor's authority too.
True enough. Of course they are looking at $5 gas in Houston from what I have read here, and if you don't have much money I don't know what your supposed to do for a shower or a meal. It looked like an entire family.
I did get a kick out of one of the black women getting off the bus saying how mad she was a Nagin.. that whoever the previous mayor was would have known what to do, but Nagin is clueless (her words, CNN a few minutes ago!)
Dork.
:)
CNN: SBC (Southwestern Bell phone company) has set up a thousand telephones in the Astrodome for Superdome refugees to use. Computers with internet access also set up in the Astrodome.
SBC has set up 1000 phones with local and long distance at the Astrodome.
But, those people weren;t out of town for 6+ mos hundred of miles away with no job to go back too. I think people just abandon NO for most part once they realzie they have nothing to go back too.
Between 170,000250,000 people are thought to have died as a result of the tsunami, and the count is not yet complete. In Indonesia in particular, 500 bodies a day were still being found in February 2005 and the count was expected to continue past June (CNN, February 10, 2005, [2]). The true final toll may never be known due to bodies having been swept out to sea, but current estimates use conservative methodologies. Relief agencies warn of the possibility of more deaths to come as a result of epidemics caused by poor sanitation, but the threat of starvation seems now to have been largely averted (BBC News, January 9, 2005, [3]). The plight of the many affected people and countries prompted a widespread humanitarian response.
Am with you totally. Living around bases for years (now Tinker AFB, OK), you know when there is a big operation underway from the aircraft taking off.
No. I'm not saying LA wants them. I'm saying the NFL wants a team in LA. One of two largest markets. They've tolerated the other teams moving before but I don't think they will again... unless it's to Los Angeles. All I'm saying is: Don't expect them to move to San Antonio.
CNN: FEMA is managing the Astrodome shelter in Houston.
Thanks! Wow, that is heartbreaking.
KFI.....
Yeah I caught that. Little girl said Nagin didn't do spit.
It's all anecdotal at this point, but from the continuous descriptions of Gunshot wounds being reported by different sources, who knows?
Dontcha know the bookies are already taking bets on all this
I apoligize that I am not a member of the FR posse. And I understand you have gone through a very tough time. I will answer your question and then refrain from making any more comments on this thread as I have seen many people get torched for expressing views opposite of the FR posse.
I am saying that every scumbag who has never worked a day in their life in NO will want a handout, a home, a car and a million dollars
Are there armed guards there, too? Our homegrown "terrorists" are aching for trouble.
I was AFRAID that was something like what I remembered...
