Thanks, but it would be helpful if you ahref linked them.
Thanks to the people who fixed the link. This is by far the most comprehensive photo imagery available of the storm damage. Basically the entire Mississippi coast is covered.
Bump for later.
Thanks. Pics are huge though.
noaa ping
It looks like the bridge on hwy 90 and the railroad in bay saint louis, ms are gone...devastating
Thanks for posting this.
Great news. Thanks for sharing it.
Is it inside the area where the surge wave went?
great news
Are they really sure this was only a Cat 4 storm? It should have weakened even more by the time it got so far north. However this area was in the NE quadrant, the worst place as for wind and storm surge
Those pictures are beyond belief. It's becoming clear that the most extravagant damage estimates are conservative. It looks like tens of billions worth of bridge and highway repairs.
Yeah, south of the railroad tracks. The Old Sailor's Home got hit with a 10-foot storm surge, and Mom & Pop's house is close to that.
The sole criteria for the Saffir-Simpson categories is sustained wind speed.
The dome of surge was built up when it was Cat 5. The weakening to Cat 4 then Cat 3 as it passed over Misissippi didn't reduce the size of the dome of surge at all.
Great links!
After looking at several of these pictures, I have decided that for many people this may be the best source of information about loved ones' fate, given the communications problems in many areas still.
