RIP. People who perished and New Orleans, a great American city.

This summer I wanted to take a driving trip from New Orleans up the Mississippi delta to Nashville and then over to Virigina panhandle. But, I couldn't.

Now I can never take that same trip. There's a lot lost forever.

I wish I'd just gone on the trip.

There's a lot lost forever.

I heard somewhere this morning that the Gulf of Mexico is now 40 miles further inland. I don't remeber the exact location.

I feel the same way. I've been before, but we almost made the trip and didn't. Goodbye Desire Oyster Bar. Goodbye Royal Sonesta. Goodbye Pat O'Briens. Goodbye Commander's Palace. Goodbye Brennan's.

I am going to be honest with you. I have been to NO twice. I could not wait to exit NO's twice. Downtown is like all big city downtown's, dirty, noisy, crime, sex junk, booze, drunks, drugs. I was there only a short time the 2nd time because I was determined that I would not stay a minute longer than necessary. Some may like it, I did not.

My daughter's school orchestra took a field trip to NO this past spring. Played for a couple of schools and a nursing home, had a private concert at Preservation Hall.

I'm glad my daughter had a chance to listen to the jazzmen and eat beignets on a park bench outside Cafe du Monde before all this came down.

We got back from N.O. about 4 weeks ago. Went down for a weeks vacation, glad we made it. Looks like it'll be a while before there's anything to go back to down there.
