No way. He will be sympathetic, and then upbeat. He is a man of action and will outline the plan from this point on. I don't know what the real estate value of the city is, but rebuilding is going to be an enormous expense and it should be done with the intent to do more than just restore it to its pre-katrina state.

Look, this was entirely predictable. If a meteor hit and wiped out NO, they'd have an excuse for not planning for it. There is no excuse for this. They had days to get people out of town. They not only waited until the last minute to tell people to leave, they provided no means of escape for those who do not own vehicles or lacked the resources to leave. The Mayor knows very well there are a huge number of people who are dependent on public transportation. Do they have any buses in NO? School buses? They should have had a plan in place to get people out of that hellhole in advance.

That's exactly what I've been thinking. During Shep's report, he was saying how there was no water, no food. What is so difficult about getting them water? Fly a plane over and dump some bottles!!! Crimony. /exasperated...

It's appalling and ridiculous. They are taking people from the Superdome and other evacuation centers and what? Dropping them off on the friggin freeway? Old people? Women with baby's? With no water in friggin 90+ degree weather?

They are going to bus them all the way to the Astrodome? We can't set up a friggin tent city? Why bus them to another dome. What a bunch of crap.

The Administration better get a handle on this right away or this will be an ugly black mark on Bush.

Oh, be careful. Criticising the authorities is apparently not allowed! People living on a freaking freeway. Unreal. Unreal.

I heard he was going to resign at 5 p.m. today during the news conference. I can't believe he would do that. Who will take over for him?

We're going to bus them all to the Superdome... Get them some friggin water for godsakes. Setup a tent city. How long do you think they're going to last without water?

Ah! Gracias! I should have been able to figure that out.

I assume TPTB is shorthand for the joos for those "in the know" around there.

Yeah, don't get them out of town, introduce them to some new hell by putting them in that stench-filled coffin.

in 1984. 14 tornadoes went through Ohio and Pa in one night.

Is that the time it swept through Albion, PA and the only thing left standing was that little church?

LOL! I love it! You amateurs blast away at Bush and others, and you think it'll stand because they're not around to defend themselves. But when some of us give you a taste of your own medicine, the tear ducts turn on full blast.

By the way, your juvenile whining will not help you in the finals for the SPOTY award. But I am a compassionate guy. Here ya go...

No, grinding your axe in a thread that has nothing to do with borders is a "cheap shot."

Oh, come on now! If mean ol' useless Dubya had secured our southern border 100% then Katrina couldn't have hit the Gulf Coast!

There is history. Last year they did evacuate the city and not much happened. If they ordered evacuation early this time a lot of residents were prepared to claim excessive crying of 'wolf'. Either way, the top officials take a hit.

Bingo. And there are plenty here who are piling on. I wonder what they'd be saying if LA's governor was Jeb Bush?

We ran out and filled up all vehicles and several cans late Sunday PM as soon as I saw the words "Cat 5" and "New Orleans" on Drudge (at $2.61 BTW)

Me too, same time, but for $2.58...so neener neener neener... "-)

Folks... I don't have a good feeling about this.

Sounds scary. In any way, specifically?
