In the early 60's I took flight students on low level (500') navigation training flights from NAS Pensacola over to Cat Island and thence down to Sulfur; and thence to Grande Isle -- right at the mouth of Ol' Miss.
It truly would be a miracle if ANYONE survived the onslaught of this hurricane in that area. Truly a no-man's land, if there were ever one!
I fear a terrible loss of life is about to unfold.
