We know from other sources there are bodies strewn and floating in various hard-hit regions, but you'd never know it from TV.
This is strange to me as the MSM glories in the daily body count from Iraq, but is skirting around the issue in the hurricane zones.
I'm trying to figure this one out, but then, the media never is consistent in its methods, running on emotions mainly.
My Favorite Headache is a reliable freeper, folks. Don't discount the bad news that is yet to be reported.
Leni
Leni, those of us who've been on this pretty active thread for what seems like forever have seen a few posts indicating that the reason we don't have death toll estimates yet is that the accent has been on rescuing the living, not recovering the dead.
One report had it that rescuers were actually brushing aside floating bodies to get to live folks in need of rescue.
Upthread I posted an article indicating officials in just one Mississippi county expect to find "hundreds" of fatalities.
The unfortunate thing is that it appears they're not "skirting around" a body count -- they've just been too busy to get to doing one.
We seem to forget this thing is only around 48 hours old.
Leni, yesterday there were claims that the media were being asked not to report on certain aspects, and were being kept out of certain areas.
I am sure I heard this. I may have heard it on one of the local streaming broadcasts. I will try to find it in print.
