The New Orleans police officer shot in the head by a looter Tuesday was expected to survive, officials said.
The officer, who has not been identified, was in surgery at West Jefferson Medical Center after being shot in the forehead, police said.

I was just watching Fox News, and 100% of the people in the store that were looting were black.
I noted later that did not mean that 100% of all looters are black, but the image was pretty astounding.

Head shots are generally never, ever good. Even if you survive.
When I was a kid (1960s), they regularly announced on TV during natural disasters that looters would be shot on sight. I can't say that I remember anyone actually being shot, but the word was put out regularly and video of police/National Guardsmen patrolling with rifles were shown.

There is NO excuse to steal microwaves, tv's, toys and any other things not needed for survival.
Of course, it would be nice if these folks were gathering these supplies as a group to help everyone instead of every man for himself.
