You can use the f-word in class (but only five times)

A secondary school is to allow pupils to swear at teachers - as long as they don't do so more than five times in a lesson. A running tally of how many times the f-word has been used will be kept on the board. If a class goes over the limit, they will be 'spoken' to at the end of the lesson.

The astonishing policy, which the school says will improve the behaviour of pupils, was condemned by parents' groups and MPs yesterday. They warned it would backfire.

Just shows you how far have some things declined...

You said it. Could you imagine? We addressed them by title. No food or gum. No bad language. And those who did? Detention or suspension. Some schools don't even have detention anymore. I was shocked by that one.

well at least I take solace in the fact that my kids *will* know the proper meaning of the words "respect" and "honor".

People are idiots... they're allowing the students to walk all over them. Great lesson. In contrast, my Latin teacher limited us to 3 bathroom/locker trips per SEMESTER and held us to it.

When I went to school, back in the early '60s, a single instance of the F-word was enough to get you expelled. A classmate of mine in the 5th grade once tried it, and they made a federal case out of it--they actually called the police, and his parents, to the school. We didn't see him again for weeks. Needless to say, you didn't hear too much vulgarity in that school!

I taught at the college level some years ago and we had a similar pollution problem. We delt with it very successfully by implementing the

"Cusscans "

. Cost you 25 cents for each utterance.This worked so well that we were only able to finance one pizza party at the end of each semester. Where have we gone wrong???
