WDSU reporting that some legislator said it could be 4 months before people would be able to return to NO.

Also, reporting on the looters seiging Children's Hospital. Looters have also broken into cars outside Tulane Hospital. Jefferson Parish confirming 5 dead.

We have apparently heard from Iran - something about paying us back for rebuilding Bam after the earthquake.

Japan has offered us some of their oil reserves and other unspecified aid. (Which, considering their position on oil, is remarkable.)

I don't know how sincere the offer is, but Chavez offered to help with fuel oil due to the disruption in the Gulf. As an aside, I believe he offered this before Jesse Jackson made his little trip, although I'm sure he will try to claim credit for the offer.
