You're both right, and I'm giving up. It's not solving anything, just making me more upset. People really need to pull together for New Orleans right now, just like they did for NYC. I hesitate to even bring that up, but let's be frank, this is a major disaster, and people and a city need serious help fast.
We can argue about whose responsibility it is, but from where I'm sitting, everyone needs to be doing more. I can hardly watch the news anymore. I'm going to give to the Red Cross, but other than that, it feels pretty helpless.
The scapegoating thing did get to me...I am not looking for a scapegoat..hindsight is always 20/20..but it IS a leaders responsibility to lead...the mayor needed help and he is getting it...but a leader needs to show strength, will, anger when necessary and preparation for the evacuation of his or her city....EVERY MAYOR has this responsibility.
