WDSU - Corps of Engineers is looking for Barge to sink at the 17th st. Canal levee break... Plus they are preparing 53,000 lbs of sandbags to Heli-drop on top of it...
Looks like whoever said that today was on the money...

Good grief, stop talking and start doing! Drop the frickin' sandbags already and see if that works. It can't make it any worse.

"Plus they are preparing 53,000 lbs"
Hopefully that number is misprint.

Near as I can tell from the article about improvements they were making for the levee system, I know where the 3000 pound sandbags came from that were used in the abortive attempt to fix it. They were the ones that the city was supposed to put in place BEFORE the storm hit to make up for the construction work. I'm guessing here, but I think the ones that were supposed to place them did not do it.

Sink a 400 foot ship along the break? Is the lake big enough for a 400 foot ship? How about 8, 50 footers?

Think that was me. It's the only thing nearby that might still be floating that's big enough to use.
The only problem is that they can't get their special barges into the area because of the debris in the river, and the hurricane scattered everyone else's barges to hell and gone.
