You know what I find unbelieveable? The people in the Dome are saying that there has not been ONE annoucement or update over the PA system in there; none. Nothing. No updates, no advice, nothing.
"To: jeffers
Actually, there was a mandatory evacuation order for much the Mississippi Gulf Coast, as of Sunday morning. Casinos closed at 2AM on Sunday.
That you didn't hear about the order in the national media is a function of their New Orleans focus. But I'm sure the local Gulfport-Biloxi stations carried all relevant information."
That's really great news, best I've heard all day.
Thanks.
On that note, I'm calling it a night.
First of all, I didn't say anything about US90, so I won't honor that with an answer.
Have you ever driven I-10 into New Orleans? If so, you will recall that some of the portion through Kenner and Metarie is at ground level. I would expect, particularly in light of what they are saying about Jefferson Parish, that there would be flooding along those portions. (To echo your tone: Do you know for a fact that there isn't?) Once you get north of there, the portion across the swamp is elevated, and should by dry if structurally sound (and it probably is).
Of course, indications are that the Causeway is intact as well. The problem would be getting to it.
One should not get beyond oneself, and in the end, those withut a sense of humor are worthless. JMO. :)
Always! ;)
Bush is going to get engaged like any real leader they get a picture of the whole situation. I have no doubt Bush will be an asset for us. But to be honest these comments about Louisiana and New Orleans being lackadasical is nonsence thats the same old tiresome rant. Being on the ground here seeing how 25 % of the State was moved to safety in 36 hours is incredible and to see how Statewide that was put in effect is incredible. Then the follow up of all State agenices and local agencies for rescue in the affected areas is amazing. All this talk about we knew it would eventually happen is stupid. Well we all know the "killer" or "big one" earthquake will happen in California prob in ourr life time . I wonder if we will here the same criticism of when others have to deal with great natural trajedy
LOL.........come on......we're all getting punchy.
these are Greek Greeks. The ones who lived the american dream. If you know any Greek Restaurantures ask them about AHEPA.
They are the group that helped finance most of the Greek Orthodox churchs built in the USA since their inception.
Their housing project administers over 450 million dollars worth of housing to seniors.
I care, Torie; I've actually learned MORE than I need to know about that "bowl" thingy down there.
I thought you said Panhellenic...
sorry
(applauds) Good post.
You evidently think if you just SAY things they are true; you haven't proven one thing I have said or posted wrong.
The same cannot be said for you.
And you were never on my ping list.
They don't have electricity to run the PA system, do they?
This really makes me appreciate what FL did in surviving their hurricanes. They have command shelters for the local governments, they are generally pretty well organized.
This is turning into a municipal governance fiasco. I would say the governor of LA should step in but I don't thing it would improve matters.
LOL!
CNN is back to repeat mode, so it's time for some sleep. Good night
Anytime........& good luck to your friend.
