No way out.

CNN, MSNBC and the FNC have gone into their nightly re-run mode. They just don't get it.
I was shocked the broadcast networks weren't live tonight with coverage. I was also disappointed the president didn't address the nation tonight. This is a national catastrophe.

i think we're getting a very sanitized version of things....
but can't say as i really blame them.
To: Texasforever
It's those big words like "how" that seem to stymie them.........LOL.

Shhhh. It got dark. We cannot show (shudder) human bodies being recovered. Think of this: YOU are stuck in a sh!thole full of moccasins, gators, and freakin fire ants. The media dolts show up with @$$loads of food, under-armed security and bright lights attached to generators (that they keep re-fueling). Now, I am not excusing lawless behaviour. The prosecution should begin as soon as food, water, shelter, law and order are re-established. Odd that privilege evaporates.

They are talking on the Olderman rerun (sorry I watched the aerial tour and haven't switched yet) that a pawn shop full of weapons was looted in Biloxy.

There is a lot of confusion about which bridge is out.
The bridge that they are showing on the news is the
I-10 bridge.
The super long
Causeway that runs down the center of the lake is
fine.
It is the shorter
I-10 Twin Span Bridge that is damaged. (on the right/east side of the lake)
Twin spans, levee breaches the priority
Tuesday, 5:55 p.m.
The
I-10 Twin Span Bridge over Lake Pontchartrain, which links Orleans and St. Tammany parishes, didnt fare well in the hurricane.
An aerial view indicates about 40 percent of the structure is damaged, with sections missing or knocked askew, officials said.
Mark Lambert, chief spokesman for the Department of Transportation and Development, said the bridge sustained more damage to its east-bound lanes than the west-bound ones. He said a structural examination will to be done in the next few days.
One option under consideration is to repair the least-damaged westbound lanes first -- possibly by using some of the more structurally-sound segments from the east-bound ones. Lambert said that while getting the bridge fixed is a high priority, it is not the states top priority.
Plugging breaches in the levee system in New Orleans -- along the 17th Street Canal and the Industrial Canal -- come first, he said.
Even if the bridge is repaired, he said, "there is nowhere to go'' since streets and neighborhoods on both sides of the span are flooded.
"Stopping the levee breaks is the No. 1 thing now,'' Lambert said.

To a little one like that, the guy in the flight gear probably is pretty scary.

I have been angry all day at the lack of action being taken for the people in the superdome. Then the governor goes there (she said) and comes out in a press conferences saying they have to be evacuated, but they have no place to put them.
Just what this governor did all day is beyond me. Someone needs to send her the rest of the way into la-la land and take over.

I understand about fuel 'treatments' but forgive me if I place little faith in them. Well, if you have the budget for new fuel every few months, great. If the treatments are good enough for TVA they're good enough for me and my little generators and truck engines.

I believe every single resource: FEMA, seabees, Corps of Engineers, contractors .. every single possible consultant and engineer is primed, is there and on this problem like white on rice. This sub sea level location, the lake, and the LEAK must be just a bugger to which to engineer a solution.
You have to know, and I do believe, they're trying everything under the sun to try to block that breach .. sinking barges .. calling experts from around the world .. brainstorming .. everything they can think of to prevent more water from seeping out.
It's a lethal combination of circumstances. There's water everywhere and nowhere to put it. The leak has to be sealed...but the solution is elusive, while the clock is ticking and people die. It's just deadly .. .. God help them.

We've already discussed this earlier today... I guess they are all foreign registry and we can't comandeer them... Personally, I think it's the dream solution.

I read this AM that Houma was asking for volunteers with small boats..... Well alright! I know many there who have boats. Like I said, I can't believe they would do nothing. The state reps are useless and that mayor is... well, out there.

I'm trying to be patient, but I really think he needs to get more out front on this. Whoever has been in charge to this point has fumbled badly. It's time for decisiveness and action. Listening to the mayor of NO and the governor of LA, it's clear they are not up to the task.
