We won't know the total death toll for DAYS, maybe weeks.
"I think we're past plugging holes"
I am afraid you are right - and its sad to think that the euphoria of yesterday afternoon has turned to tragedy with the levee failure today.
CNN's Aaron Brown: The President has finally decided to pay attention to the situation.
Well, yes, clearly the mayor and governor's inability to quickly act proactively and make decisions made this worse. Plus either an insufficent pre-strike evac plan or failure to effectively implement some of it (or likely both.) How exactly did they expect tourists to get out? No evidence of any plans for that, or at least no signs of implementation of such. I bet you are correct, and she didn't call the airlines. This wasn't the usual hurricane situation, and most knew that if the hurricane continued on its predicted course, it would be far worse than 9/11. An extraordinary request of the airlines on her part should have been a no brainer.
Nearly 4 decades of warnings, predictions, and knowing this would happen, yet they were still woefully unprepared. Known to all that evac would take 48-72 hours, yet no mandatory call until 24 hours were left, no mandatory shut down of nonessential businesses on Saturday night and Sunday, on and on and on.
The blame game is going to be ugly and the LA politicos are pointing their fingers right at Bush.
And your larger point is...?
Let me guess ..
No I will wait to see if you have anything behind your, uh "interesting" post
We just disagree.
I just watched a news video of a helo fly over for maybe twenty minutes on the live feed from chanel 4 WWL which is coming now out of Baton Rouge. <> They are doing a conference now...HERE
The video of the water and wind damage was phenominal. Huge effort to clean up and repair that...when they can get to it, and there is no telling when they will get to it.
Thye are saying that over 3000 were rescued today.
I pray that they can get to more.
60,000 in the SuperDome? WHere and how are they going to take care of that many?
Generally speaking, you are correct. However, there are women out there who are strong and level headed and think quickly in a crisis. Unfortunately, Dem women are less likely to be that way.

Sorry, all out of stars, and the other half of the case won't last long either.
Nice try though.
I'm with you on this. Those people in the superdome are sitting ducks.
Damn them all.
hey, they've been oppressed!
(that's what one looter actually said!)
Therefore they can take life saving neccessities, like malt liquor, sneakers, and big tv's.
Worst part is watching the parents teach the children, they had video of a dad loading up his kids with smokes...
sad, sad situation......
Though I doubt that this was quite the hell that Bush wished for him.
Predominate ethnicity of the NO looters?
Black, for the most part. Why does that surprise you in a city that is overwhelmingly black?
or are you trying to get another point across about this particular ethnicity that goes beyond the current news?
He is running low on potato chips and gas... and does not know where he will sleep tonight (yeah, right!)
I admit her foirst interviews have not been great I think fatique but gosh and I love GWB but his performance in first few public monents after 911 wasnt stellar but once he got his footing he was spectuclar I am giving her pass for a bit since alot of her plan does seem to be working seeing it on the ground here as to evacuees. I do think Baton Rouge does need to be more public though.
So it's the airlines fault that the Governor and Mayor didn't round up every bus in Southern LA and send it to NO to evacuate people?
