People truly taking advantage of the situation should be dealt with harshly. By taking advantage I don't mean people taking food and water etc.
It's really easy to sit from our comfortable homes or offices and pass judgement upon these people who have been hit with something you've probably never even come close to experiencing - they have no way out, no stores are open. Granted they should have evacuated before the storm but not everyone was able.
People who are taking food, water, diapers, medicine or any essentials are doing what they need to do to survive. You'd do the same for your family if you were in that situation - I guarantee it. If you donb't have the ability to make those sort of dicisions and distinctions in a survival situation you won't be a survivor.
However - the people taking advantage, the idiots stealing TVs and other valuables are total fools who are lucky they haven't been shot by the National Guard - which is something I expect will happen (and in some cases rightfully so) - certainly that is what they should focus on -
but suggesting that people who are taking food and water are somehow criminal in a situation like this is ridiculous
