Reports on CNN are horrific. This is much worse than earlier reported. Stupid reporters on Bourban Street. They were clueless.

Yeah, but they were also stuck where they were. They reported what they could see. Now they're moving out and about -- let's see how they do.

Perhaps you two missed the part where I offered up prayers for those in Mississippi and Alabama. If so, you would see that my praise for the mercy on New Orleans was tempered with prayers for others in the path of the storm.

Am I horrified by the destruction of thousands of homes? Yes. Am I grateful that my daughter in Fort Walton Beach did not lose hers? Yes.

Since I have relatives in Gulfport, I have every right to praise the hand of God for sparing the lives of thousands of New Orleans residents. We have just heard from my sister's husband's brother in Gulfport, and he is still alive. Will I praise God for mercy upon my relatives? Yes. Will I weep for the lives of those who may have been taken by the storm? Yes.

Yes. I can both praise God and weep. Praise for those whose lives were saved today, tears for those who will never again see the beautiful white sands and turquoise waters of the very Gulf that took their lives...
