According to my friend Chris who lives in Hialeah, they were still without power as of Sunday (last time I spoke with him). No rioting or looting, as happenned in Homestead after Andrew.

Yeah that was no andrew, more tree damage than anything else. Knock enough trees down and you will take some power lines with you, that's probably what happened.South Fla. definitely dodged a bullet. We lost power for only one day in the keys. We still have many weeks to go in this season.

The same friends I stayed with during Andrew, out in the Redlands, west of Homestead, won't have power back until probably Wednesday. They had 80-90 mph winds and the stuffing scared outta them, but no major damage, thank God. They've learned their lesson well.... prepare, prepare, prepare. Those in Homestead proper, those east of US#1 and Florida City did not fare so well.
