Canal street is the 4th street northeast of the Superdome. Tulane U. hospital is 3 blocks north of the Superdome, with city hall in between, and other medical buildings. But it looks to be several stories tall, so not sure why they would have to evacuate the entire hospital. Also the elevation there is shown to be between 0 and 5', so the flooding shouldn't get real deep there, no more than whatever level the lake is, so if the area in front of the hospital is flooded, from a lake breach at the other end of the city, then the rest of the city should already be flooded about as much as it is going to. Further, Canal Street descends from the hospital towards the lake, so if water is cascading down the street, then it is coming from a breach in the Miss. River levee. Or the call was a hoax? Something is kinda odd, unless I'm missing something. Maybe she was talking about hearing that water was running down Canal St. at the lake end?
