When that guy says 1000 to 2000 casualities, does he mean deaths?

And what was the square mileage he just mentioned?

He went on to say 'people stranded on roofs". But it wont surprise me when we hear the death toll. How long will they have to hang on? Lots are old, infirm, handicapped. It's just dreadful. I hope rescue can go on during the night but the resources are limited.

As I understand it, the term 'causualties' usually refers to victims, or injured, or a combined number of injured and dead. Are you talking about the cameraman on CNN? If so, I am pretty sure he was talking about persons needing to be rescued.

Just FYI, (although I hear there are some WAY more important things going on now with the levee breech), the "20 square mile thing" came from ONE rescuer who was talking about the area that he was in charge of.

I understood that clearly when he said it; why they ran with it as some sort of total area I have no idea.
