Guess Shep was wrong...NO didn't "dodge the bullet."

I thought when he said that it was an extremely premature announcement.

Well, in a way much of NO did dodge a bullet. Now we have some areas under 12'of flooding, some under 6', and some with almost no flooding, while if the hurricane had been about 10 miles further west, or 10-20 mph stronger, all of the city could have been under 10-25' of water.

I saw earlier that the Lake Pontchartrain storm surge was 10-12', and the lowest points on the lake levees were 13'. 2' more feet of surge, and the picture would be amazingly worse, with even the higher French Quarter under 5-10' of water.

So perhaps they dodged a bullet to the heart, but took two in the legs.

New Orleans dodged the bullet of the "Armageddon Scenario" that was constantly reported yesterday and the day before it by all news networks. The damage to New Orleans is much less than the predictions, thanks GOD.

The heaviest area hit by the storm is part of the Mississippi cost, where the material damage is very severe.

However it seems that the losses in life caused by Katrina are very minimal in all the Gulf States, thanks the Lord.
