Something that came up on another thread needs addressing by the authorities.
Some enviro-wacko was decrying the amount of toxic chemicals to be released to the environment as a result of this disaster. I postulated that it is not the chemicals they need to be worried about (most will be diluted to below their level of toxicity), but waterborne disease that will result from broken sewage lines, human waste, contaminated drinking water, docomposing bodies (both the long dead and the recent dead), and insects from standing water. With that amount of water and the tropical-heat of late summer, we may have an epidemic of disease like we haven't seen in decades.
