The red cross did in fact charge the military for coffee etc. I would NEVER donate to them because of this, never. This is no legend, my dad, a vet told me they did, even when his ship was sunk and he went there after being fished out of the ocean.
Suzanne Rodgers, a victim from the Biloxi area, said all the homes in her beachfront neighborhood are "gone...totally gone."
Oh I thought you were joking, my bad, I tink you will be ok. Prayers
Can someone please tell me where is St. Barnard Parish -. Does anyone know if Reserve is flooded?
Yes, it's very hard to watch.
"It reminds me of Camille . . . all I found that belonged to me was a shoe and a chair."
I have never met anyone who was helped by Red Cross. But I know hundreds who have given blood to RC.
I have dial up and it does not bother me. I can wait a minute or two.
It is looking more and more like the real story here is in Biloxi and Gulfport, MS. The news crews are stuck in NO though with roads closed or out. No more words from Jim Cantore who was in Gulfport - they were watching the waters recede and it sounded like their truck was damaged.
The other thing is that reporters are often strangers to the areas they're looking at -- so they don't always realize just how much might be missing. They might not realize that the open field they're looking at used to be a building or that the shoreline is hundreds of yards inland from where it used to be.
"The stories from WWII about the RC charging for coffee etc, was done by the International Red Cross, not the American Red Cross."
Not according to what my dad and his cousins had to say.
St Bernard is east of NO, at least the populated part is.
Via CNN now: "The homes that stood Camille couldn't stand this . . . they're all gone." --Suzanne Rodgers
I remember one we had here, I had three dogs and six cats in my lap at one time.
I don't know where Shep Smith got off saying NO dodged a bullet. Maybe on HIS party street, they did. But the rest of the areas we're seeing...moving water that isn't going to go away soon.
Does anyone know what the weather forecast is for NO and Mississippi tomorrow? Hopefully no rain.
Have other countries started any donations yet?
I'd be the last one to minimize what has happened throughout the Gulf Coast. I just wish the media would spend more time on facts,
I agree.
Haven't heard about cajungirl, but I'll certainly include her in my thoughts and prayers.
If it is illegal for merchants to scalp prices for batteries, building materials and gas at the pump because of the storm, WHY CAN'T THE OIL COMPANYS BE CHARGED FOR THE SAME THING!
Where are you in Tennessee, Maybe I can tell you where to get some information.
