I don't have any sympathy for these people, they were told to EVACUATE, evacuate means LEAVE, if you chose to stay - you suffer the consequences, it's not like they weren't warned over and over again, it serves them right.

I'm sure all the senior citizens too old or infirm to evacuate the city, and without any available public transportation to do so, would appreciate any ideas you may have on how to avoid this in the future.

All the senior citizens and disabled were taken to the superdome, I doubt any of the 200 reported on rooftops are senior citiznes or disabled.

Sad to say, but the best way to avoid this in the future is to rebuild the city on higher ground. Earlier reports said that it being where it is, with the massive flood control system that requires, has been causing erosion south of it, leaving it more vulnerable to hurricanes every year.

And since we're coming out of a 30-year slump in the number of hurricanes....
