August 28, 2005--In a hypothetical match-up for the 2008 Presidential Election, Democrat Hillary Clinton leads Republican Condoleezza Rice by six percentage points--44% to 38%.
Six months ago, Clinton was ahead by seven percentage points--47% to 40%.
The Rasmussen Reports survey also found that the former First Lady leads the current First Lady by ten percentage points, 47% to 37%. Laura Bush has never held public office and never given any indication that she could ever be a candidate.
Bush is viewed more favorably than either of the other women in this survey. Fifty-five percent (55%) have a favorable opinion of Laura Bush while just 27% hold an unfavorable opinion.
For Condoleezza Rice, the numbers are 43% favorable and 33% unfavorable.
Hillary Clinton is viewed favorably by 42% and unfavorably by 43%. The Hillary Meter has measured the New York Senator's efforts to move to the political center this year. Currently, 28% of Americans say they would definitely vote for her and 39% would definitely vote against.
She won't be the nominee. Book it.
If you want a former provost with no legislative experience, whose never been elected to public office and who stands at odds with some key planks of the party platform (life and US role in globalism), then Condi is for you.
For us Reagan conservatives, she's a non-starter. She would serve the party best if she returned to the private sector.
Polls are irrelevant, since the Electoral College chooses the President, and not the voters.
What I want to know, is why are there ANY negatives for Laura Bush? What can people find offensive about her?
"Republicans are going to split big time"
Most, the vast majority of Republican voters WILL NOT choose between two monsters that favor killing innocent life. I will vote but for statewide offices and conress. You put a Pro-abort liberal Repub on the ticket and I won't vote for POTUS in that election.
What can people find offensive about her?
She sounds like Peggy Hill.................
OH! No wait, that's a positive!
Never mind.
It doesnt matter how skewed it is. Condi isn't a politician and she won't run.
The only ones who hate Laura Bush are the ultra Leftists.
Exactly.....ridiculous poll.
Hillary Clinton has ZERO chance to be elected President.
Anyone who supports Condi Rice, at this point, can't be considered a rational voter. No one has any clue where she stands on a single domestic issue, because she has never taken a single position on anything outside of foreign policy. Besides that, she has never held any elective office.
Rice vs. Hillary is a media contrivance.....nothing more.
My early read on 2008: George Allen or Mike Huckabee vs. Evan Bayh or Bill Richardson.
Hillary's moving to the "center" will only fool the most ignorant of voters. When the campaign gets going Hillary's going down in flames on the merit of her record alone.
HA,HA,HA,HA,HA....the hype begins.
hillereee the screamin' banshee vs. Condi?
No contest. Condi hands down.
We'll see. Care to put some cash on it?
You said it. I think hillereee realizes she is not presidential fodder and will just stay in the Senate continuing to do nothing for New York as she has done all along and they will vote her in to continue to do nothing. Makes sense to me.+

Don't speak for Regan Conservatives, guy.
I'm certainly one, having voted for him and his vision both times.I
I will do what is necessary to Beat Hilda, and Condi is okay with me.
if Condi were the nominee, I'd probably stay home.
Of course it is. Are we not discussing the GOP nominee for 08? I think we are. Who selects that nominee? All of America? Don't be ridiculous, Republicans select their nominee. The GOP nominee is most definitely a matter for the GOP; that's neither childish nor illogical; it's a fact.
It's about what is best for America, and that's what we want.
As if I don't want what's best for America? I think what I am saying is that if you want what's best for America, you don't want Condi.
I would bet money that none of those will be nominated for POTUS, although Allen may have a shot. - Of course, I've lost money before. 8^)
No one has any clue where she stands on a single domestic issue
