What the heck is "slam poetry?"

I just googled on her name and found one of her “award winning poetry slams”. The award was from a bunch of equally untalented poetry slammers.

It’s just a wet lump of spewed vitriol, neither creative nor enlightening. I think she intended to "shock" somebody, but its all rather mundane. It’s 100 seconds long, though it seems much longer.
