Perhaps you should ask Jesus of Nazareth, who could have saved His life but felt it would have been wrong.
Such a simplistic view. He gave His life so that the rest of us could be saved. He could have saved himself, yes, but he chose to save us, instead.
Is violating the Commandment "Thou Shalt Not Steal" lesser in precendence than saving a life?Is it stealing if you take something you need, then offer to pay for it later?

NONE of these looters is "stealing" to save their own life, somebody's else's life, or their children's lives.
NONE have been "threatened" with anything but discomfort, pain from wind and exposure, and wind-blown debris.
What? Are we supposed to believe they are "starving" or dying of thirst after 6 hours of the hurricane? With shelters and fire stations and police stations and other official shelters and churches ...... all available in walking dist of every house in the city.
