The thousands of people who took shelter in the New Orleans Superdome couldn't completely escape the wrath of Hurricane Katrina.

That would be the fabric roof/sealer that got ripped off. The steel roof is still just fine except for a few missing panels and inspection ports.

From what I've read, none of this was unexpected. The engineers on scene aren't worried about it.
