yep I think they're on the water like most river boat casinos. Something to do with legalities of no gambling "on land" so they put the casino on the water
And if it starts to move off the interstate, they'll just nudge it back in place with their trucks!
The worst case scenario has never actually happened in New Orleans -- yet -- despite the fact that we've been recording history in the area since the French settled in the area three hundred years ago.
I hypothesize that all the marshland/swampland acts pretty much like dry land in breaking up the storms as they get close. So a storm would have to remain over water to really inundate the area -- come in through the Rigolets and the lakes.
If this storm jogs to the west after coming a bit more north, that would be bad for the Parish of Orleans.
But Plaquemines and Slidell are going to be flooded.
Be careful and stay away from the windows.
Evidently, the folks in nursing homes were left to fend for themselves. Some relatives were coming in to stay with them. Somebody yesterday said that in one nursing home, one nurse was left to look after all the residents.
They just probably didn't get enough liquid. Maybe were on IV bags and there was nobody to restart them, who knows.
What I can't imagine is a city who doesn't have evac plans for all their nursing homes.
Yes. The worst of it is coming in. Where are you, btw? I forget.
Thanks.
And Landrieu is on FnF right now saying how awesome the pumps are. Does she not know they're not working?
Take care, and God speed.
Prayers sent your way!
Pray for W and New Orleans
Perhaps the mayor hasn't heard the adage: "It's easier to gain forgiveness than permission."
Which pumps? There are about fourteen of the big ones . . . .
They mentioned people left in nursing homes with very little supervision.
Sending prayers your way...
too funny - she also said the Mayor & Gov are doing a fine job - if this had gone the other way - it would have been Bush's fault like she told Chrissy Matthews last night on Hardball

Trying, but it is mesmerizing. House is all windows and alittle wood in between. The wind comes in gusts. It is stronger than I thought it would be at times. Power blinking.
Yup...it has to do with the law allowing "riverboat" gambling. They load passengers, go on a trip for awhile and come back. It's the law. They have to be moving.
