I would just like to mention that for decades we have heard about how the democrats are the party for the poor people. Look at how well they have taken care of the poor in New Orleans! No way to get them out of town, send them to the Superdome, no help for nursing homes or hospital patients; meanwhile...the mayor had HIS family evacuated by helicopter!

I am totally disgusted. People will die because of this idiot mayor!!!

I heard the NO mayor being interviewed via phone by both Geraldo and Larry King. Geraldo and the mayor were so awful that I blacked out on the sofa while listening to their awkward and inept q&a. Geraldo even asked...I think I heard this before my blackout...if the mayor knew of anything that would lessen the hurricane! This to a man can't even read.

It will be interesting to see what the public reaction to this mayor's actions will be from NO residents.

Frankly, I wouldn't stay in the SuperDome. I'd have found some way to get out of town.

School buses would have been a natural way to get thousands of people out of town, if they wanted to.

NO has had a long time to get ready for this. I'd think they could have done better.

People will die because New Orleans is fundamentally incapable of absorbing something like this and always has been. I'm not willing to lay what's about to happen at Nagin's feet even if he could have been more proactive. (But then I've had a soft spot for him ever since he endorsed Jindal in '03.)
