Jeff--are you always this contrary, or are you just working overtime tonight?

No it just bothers me when people that are supposed to conservatives become reactionary and alarmists. For some reason there is this extreme need to blame somebody for this. I never understood why liberals always have to find someone to blame when something bad happens but now I'm starting to realize that it's not just a liberal reaction.

I don't know anything about this mayor - he could be a flaming socialist for I know and being the mayor of a major city, he probably is. He also might be a complete idiot as well. As someone who suffered from a speech impediment in my youth, it take offense to those who judge intelligence by how smooth a person talks.

What you are requiring of the man, however, is totally unrealistic and unreasonable. If you just want to find a way to blame someone to make yourself feel better then knock yourself out. The religious nuts found a way to do that earlier by blaming the citizens of the city. You were stand up in that situation btw.

Evacuations of 100,000 people who are not organized is just not that simple.

I can compare the actions of our Gov. Jeb and the local EOC to the disaster I saw in Louisiana the past 24 hours. It's called leadership--and it was sorely lacking in Louisiana.

Those numbskulls waited until the President called them--twice to get off their duffs and feebly attempt to motivate people.

It's all about leadership.

Jeff--I'm really beginning to believe you fibbed about ever being in a hurricane. Shame on you.

I'm not sure there is a blame game going on. Maybe it is more of a desire for accountability. Republicans generally have higher standards, and when something goes wrong, they want to know why. I read earlier in one of these threads that while Mayor Nagin is a Democrat (which all major players in Orleans Parish are), he was a Bush supporter. I can't vouch for that last part. It may be true.

As someone who has been watching the local political scene in New Orleans for a short while, they all had their hands full trying to better the school system, and trying to get a grip on the out of control crime, that was certainly ruining the city. The city was losing on the order of 5,000 residents a year. The criminals had certainly taken over.
