If they used the right models. I understand the levies are only designed to protect the city in case of a cat 3 hurricane. It eveidnetly cost too much to buoild for the worst case which, IAC, often cannot be anticipatred. The towers in NYC were designed to withstand a hit from a 707, I think, not planes as big as the ones that flew into it.

It withstood the impact from the 747's.

It was the fuel from the planes that fueled a fire that destroyed the towers. They would have most likely stood had the stairs been encased in concrete instead of 1 1/2" of drywall.

I just was watching the news. The levi manager was saying that they expect flooding. Thw storm surge is estimated to be 20' tall, with storm WAVES of 10 feet on top of that.

The TALLEST levi's are 18 feet tall.

Just heard on Art Bell that bouys out in the Gulf have recorded 60' waves.

Prayers up.

I just reviewed Holland's storm surge protection. Wow, those folks have really taken storm surge serious.

NO either needs to build in better protection, or move out of low lying areas.

It will be interesting to see how much damage has been done to NO after tomorrow. Will those figures run higher than the cost of an adequate levy system?
