>>> Yes. Every time I think about it I get mad again. Those poor folks in the Dome are at risk because there was no plan to get them out of the city. It just infuriates me. <<<

The advisories for this storm have been up for days.
I do not expect some government official to arrive in a vehicle to give me a lift. Nor do I expect them to be able to provide a lift out of town for several hundred thousand people too stupid to heed the advisories.
Be infuriated at the idiocy of the citizens. Not the officials.
Sorry, but I just think that in the case of natural disasters a government is supposed to plan for the safety of all of its citizens, not just the smart ones and the ones who own cars. There are a whole lot of children in the Superdome, you know. Are they undeserving idiots, too?
To some degree, you are correct. However, factor in the elderly and mentally incapacitated. Factor in the people without mode or means of escape. Factor in stupidity of "leaders" who did stuff like... oh, kept the Ponchatrain bridge traffic flow going in usual direction instead of opening both lanes to get OUT.
What about a town dependent on tourism that apparently had zero plans for evacuating tourists without cars, when the airlines shut down a day early, as did train service and bus service, and rental cars were sold out? Should they have walked to safety?
